Biography I first sang in public when I was 14, playing the role of Julie Jordan in Carousel in Exmouth Pavilion, Devon. I continued with amateur operatics and dramatics during my teens and even won a place in the National Youth Music Theatre, supported by Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber, at the age of 16, for Warchild, and 18, for Creation. Other roles I played during my teens include The May Queen, in Merrie England, Princess Esmerelda in Puss in Boots and Ariel in The Tempest. After finishing my a levels I worked for a few years and my singing slipped down my priority list but after starting university in October 2004 things have taken off once more! I played the title role in Princess Ida at the University's Central Hall in 2005 and performed in my first solo concert at St Helen's Church in June 2004. Since then I've been focusing on promoting myself for paid engagements at weddings, parties and other functions. My first CD was recorded in August 2005 and plans are now underway for my next CD, of traditional folk songs with classical guitar, which I hope to have completed by the end of September. Apart from classical singing, I am also branching out into other genres, including swing-jazz, pop and acoustic. I have recently set up a swing-jazz band for weddings, parties and corporate events. The official bad launch was in March at 1331 in York, which was packed to bursting! As well as the fantastic jazz musicians I'm working with I'm also teaming up with harpists, classical guitarists, pianists and many more musicians and local composers on all sorts of exciting projects. Details of which will be on the website when details of recordings or live performances are available. |
